Captain Lee Collins
Captain Lee Collins currently serves as the President of the Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations. Captain Collins is a 34-year veteran of the airline industry with an extensive professional background in Airline Safety, Training, Security, Domestic and International Flight Operations; and many years of Industry/Governmental Legislative Affairs experience.
As an Airline Transport rated (ATP) pilot and current line Captain with United Parcel Service Airlines, he has logged over 18,000 flight hours and is type rated in the B-727, B-757/ 767, MD-11 aircraft. Captain Collins comes to CAPA from the Independent Pilots Association (IPA) in Louisville, Kentucky where he is also the Chairman of Government and Legislative Affairs.
From 2001 to 2004, Captain Collins served as the Director of Security for the IPA, as well as a member of the CAPA Security Committee. During that time, he worked diligently to facilitate new Airline Security regulations and policies in the post 9/11 airline environment as a member of the Aviation Security Advisory Committee (ASAC).
In 2004, Captain Collins returned from his work in Washington, D.C. to assume the role of Director of Flight Operations IPA in Louisville KY. During that time much of his work was centered upon managing and directing various groups involved in airline safety, training and 121 airline flight operations. In 2007, Captain Collins was promoted to his role as the head of Governmental Affairs IPA.
Captain Collins holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science from the University of Kentucky and holds a Master of Divinity degree from the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
He is a native of Louisville, Kentucky where he currently resides with wife, Michelle.
