First Officer Shawn Gray
Government Affairs Chairman
First Officer Shawn Gray serves as the Government Affairs Chairman for both the Coalition of Airline Pilots Association and the Allied Pilots Association and has served on these committees since 2009.
He has also served on the International Alliance Committee for APA for a number of years. Current duties for APA and CAPA include participation as an observer in US State Department bi-lateral aviation talks and negotiations. First Officer Gray was hired by American Airlines in 1999, and is based at LAX on the Boeing 777 flying international routes.
Prior to joining American Airlines, he flew in the United States Air Force as an F-16 fighter pilot. His career progression followed that of his father’s, Captain Randall J. Gray, who was a pilot in the United States Air Force and then pilot for Delta Air Lines, retiring in 2003.
First Officer Gray graduated from Western Washington University in 1993 with a B.A. in Business/Accounting. He is married to Raquel Losada Monroy, MD and has two children. He and his wife spend time together at their home in Camas, Washington, where they live on the local community airport and fly a 1953 Piper Supercub.
