(Washington, DC – May 4, 2019)  The Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA), representing more than 30,000 professional airline pilots, extends our comprehensive support to the passengers, crew members and their families following the runway overrun of Miami Air charter flight BSK293 while on approach to the Jacksonville Naval Air Station. While there is much speculation, there are expectedly few facts at this stage of the investigation.

CAPA President Captain Larry Rooney stated, “Although difficult, it is important to remember that the considerable expertise of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), assisted by their designated parties to the investigation, will work tirelessly to uncover the chain of events that led to this unfortunate incident. More importantly, we are grateful that at this time there is no loss of life or serious injury.”

“With more than 20 years of experience in aviation safety, CAPA stands ready to assist our pilot brothers and sisters at Miami Air, represented by Teamsters Local 1224 as well as to ensure the 30,000 pilots we serve are provided with timely information as it is discovered by the investigators”, added CAPA President Capt.
