Captain Lee Collins

Executive Vice President of Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations

Captain Lee Collins currently serves as Executive Vice President of the Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations. Captain Collins is a 26-year veteran of the airline industry with an extensive professional background in Airline Security, Safety, Domestic and International Flight Operations and many years of Industry/Governmental Legislative Affairs. As an Airline Transport rated pilot and current line Captain with United Parcel Service Airlines, he has logged over 18,000 flight hours and is type rated in the B-727, B-757/ 767, MD-11 aircraft. Captain Collins comes to CAPA from the Independent Pilots Association (IPA) in Louisville, Kentucky where he is also currently the Chairman of Government Affairs. Captain Collins remains a member of the Government Affairs and the Security Committees of CAPA (ex-officio).

In 2004, Captain Collins returned from his work in Washington, D.C. to assume the role of Director of Flight Operations IPA, based in Louisville Kentucky. In 2007, Captain Collins returned to his Governmental Affairs role when he assumed his current position as Chairman-IPA Government Affairs.

From 2001 to 2004, Captain Collins was the Director of Security for the IPA, as well as a member of the CAPA Security Committee. During that time he worked diligently to facilitate new Airline Security regulations and policies in the post 9/11 airline environment.

Captain Collins holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science from the University of Kentucky, and is currently completing Graduate studies at the Louisville Seminary in Louisville Kentucky. Captain Collins is a native of Louisville, Kentucky where he currently resides with his two children, Jessica and Cody.
