(Washington, DC – October 10, 2019) DOT Secretary Elaine Chao has announced the appointment CAPA President Captain Larry Rooney as a member of the FAA’s prestigious Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ARAC). The Federal Aviation Administration established the ARAC in 1991 as an innovative approach to rulemaking — one that affords the regulated community an opportunity to provide advice and recommendations about regulations that affect the aviation industry.

CAPA’s membership is pleased that Captain Rooney’s selection as a contributing member will greatly benefit the ARAC and the Department’s efforts to create better rules and/or guidance material. His significant experience and leadership will add valuable insight and perspectives that will help further the ARAC’s mission.

“It is an honor and privilege to have been selected by Secretary Chao to serve is this important position, and I look forward to working with my fellow ARAC members,” stated CAPA President, Captain Larry Rooney.

The ARAC members will provide advice and recommendations to the FAA concerning rulemaking activities, such as aircraft operations, airman and air agency certification, airworthiness standards and certification, airports, maintenance, noise, and training; resulting in better rules and guidance material for the aviation community.
