(October 24, 2023 – Washington, DC). The Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA), representing over 36,000 professional airline pilots, issued the following statement on the confirmation of Michael Whitaker to serve as Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA):

“Michael Whitaker’s confirmation comes at a critical time for the aviation industry, as it navigates the challenges posed in the wake of the global pandemic and works towards a sustainable and resilient future,” stated CAPA President Capt. Larry Rooney. “His leadership and strategic vision will be instrumental in guiding the FAA through these continued challenging times and positioning it for future success,” he added.

CAPA remains committed to supporting the FAA’s mission and working collaboratively towards a continued safe and more innovative aviation industry. As the FAA Administrator, Whitaker will be responsible for overseeing the safety and regulation of the United States aviation system. CAPA’s primary focus continues to be ensuring the highest standards of safety for passengers, crew, and aircraft while also promoting innovation and modernization within the industry.
