(Washington, DC – May 6, 2019) The Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA), representing more than 30,000 professional airline pilots, extends our sincerest condolences to the passengers, crew members and their families following the tragic loss of Aeroflot flight SU1492. While there is much speculation, there are expectedly few facts at this stage of the investigation.

CAPA President Captain Larry Rooney stated, “Although difficult, it is important to remember that the designated Russian Safety Regulators, and the designated parties to the investigation will work tirelessly to uncover the chain of events that led to this catastrophic loss of life.”

“Our deepest condolences are with the families, co-workers, friends and loved ones of the crew members and passengers involved in the tragic accident,” added Captain Rooney. “With more than 20 years of experience in aviation safety, CAPA stands ready to assist and educate our pilot brothers and sisters at Aeroflot, as well as to ensure the pilots we represent are provided with timely information as it is discovered by the investigators”, stated CAPA President Capt. Rooney.
